Genres: Mining Explore the dangers gas fracking mining poses to the water table, economy, and land. Learn about minimal taxes and how governments and lobbyists are involved.
Fracking, or hydraulic fracturing, poses significant environmental dangers. The process requires large volumes of water mixed with chemicals, which can lead to depletion of local water resources. Moreover, the chemicals used can seep into the groundwater, potentially contaminating drinking water supplies. This contamination not only affects ecosystems but also poses risks to human health, raising concerns among communities near fracking sites.
Water contamination is one of the most alarming dangers of fracking. Studies show that the chemicals used in fracking fluid can remain underground for years. However, if there is a leak from the well, these harmful substances can make their way to the surface and into groundwater. This situation is particularly concerning for nearby residents, as contaminated water can lead to serious health issues, including respiratory problems and increased cancer risk.
The health risks associated with fracking extend beyond water contamination. Studies have found that individuals living near fracking sites report higher instances of headaches, sleep disturbances, and other health complaints. Additionally, the air quality can deteriorate due to the release of volatile organic compounds during the drilling process. Although fracking provides energy, the potential health consequences cannot be overlooked, and these communities often feel neglected when it comes to adequate safety measures.
Interesting stories looking forward to purchasing again
The koalas needed a truth teller there is so much to learn here about a complex crisis and national history leading to the current situations effecting our most loved , rare and iconic aussie animals . . Koala Audiobooks journey will allow the listener to have a much better understanding Highly recommended Thank you
As an elder myself, i found this to be very emotional, hearing family's speak up about the royal commission into deaths in custody, be prepared to be moved and heart broken, and ashamed of what our country is turning in to. I recommend this story to anyone that wants or needs to hear about what goes on behind closed doors. It's important that the truth be told, and people have the opportunity to listen & learn. To change the future, we must look at the errors of the past.
just hearing this elder, talk about living life in the old days and surviving a crocodile attack was amazing, it's how he survived by adapting to new ways of life that i found inspiring, he has a beautiful soul and a positive attitude to life. He is an inspiration.
These stories from koala audiobooks have been eye opening in to things we would otherwise never hear the stories to.
I have been a regular customer for a year and have bought over 20 stories - i found this story took me on a journey across Australia hearing people in the Kimberley across to Cape York.
Listening to this audiobook, it was able to paint a visual of the words I was listening to, and feel as though I had been along side them on their journey.
i am the lady who bought $90 worth of stories from Sydney back in 2022, i am proud i still hold the record for most stories bought in one night, all their short stories are just brilliant, every story i enjoyed and i can't wait for new stories in 2025 but i will be downloading more stories soon, well done Koala Audiobooks for breaking through to the other side giving me pure enjoyment - Camels in Australia -- loved every word she said about growing up on the camel trains of 50 camels delivering supplies to cattle stations
love her story telling of the 1800's how her grandfather worked for Jardine, the Irish Settler who was quite brutal during his life in Cape York
