The Ord River of the Kimberley is a spectacular river in the far north of the Kimberely region of Australia, over the decades there has been much controversy over damming the Ord River for irrigation of plantations in towns such as Kunnunurra

Black Soil Roads of the Kimberely

I Travelled Across Remote Australia was the most downloaded Koala Audiobooks in 2024
Here we see a major dirt road in the Kimberely region, much of the remote communities only have dirt roads and are washed out from flash floods during the wet season
We hear how dirt roads are being compacted like cement with blackw soil thus are rock hard when the floods come

Aunty Magdaline Cottas Living in Cape York - the short people in the forest can bush you meaning trick you

At the top of Cape York are 2 remote communities, Bamaga and Seisa. Both small towns are only a few kilometres apart and are surrounded by forests. We sat down with Aunty Magdaline Cottas and recorded her life story over a few hours
As we say here at Koala Audiobooks, it's best to play her audio sample on our website here as you will be amazed what she talks about
In a chapter she talks of the short people in the forests can bush you, they can trick you,
" Oh i been here, but no it's not the same place " - enjoy playing her audio sample as she also sings in Creole what she sings on her sailing boat
We sat on the tip here of Cape York but you have to be careful with Crocodiles going by so we were very aware
