Before Floating the Australian Dollar the Fixed Exchange Rate made it Hard to control the money supply by the Reserve Bank 

Floating the Australian Dollar Freed up the Australian Dollar on the International Exchange Rate 

Probably one of the best economic decisions ever made to save Australia's Economy
